BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's soccer squad took down Penn State-Abington with a go-ahead goal in the last minute of the second half to capture the 2-1 victory on John Makuvek Field Thursday night.
How It Happened
- The Greyhounds and Nittany Lions exchanged eight shots between the squads with Moravian taking three and Penn State-Abington attempting five shots. They would head into halftime in a scoreless draw
- Moravian got on the board in the 66th minute when junior midfielder Quinn Middleton sent a pass into the box and senior forward Andrew Goodolf got a shot off outside the 6-yard box that went off the keeper's gloves and into the top right of the net to give the Blue and Grey a 1-0
- Penn State-Abington would counter with a goal in the 78th minute to knot the match at 1-1 with 12 minutes to play
- Middleton set up the game-winning goal with 45 seconds remaining when he sent a pass crossing the 18-yard box and found senior midfielder Safa Turkdonmez who blasted a shot into the back of the net to give the Greyhounds a 2-1 lead
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian attempted 15 shots in the contest, outshooting the Nittany Lions who had seven shots. The Blue and Grey earned four corner kicks and held Penn State-Abington without one.
- Goodolf's goal was the second of the season and the sixth of his career
- Turkdonmez also netted his second marker of the 2021 campaign and his fourth career goal
- Getting credited with two assists tonight was Middleton, his first two helpers of the season and he has four through his three years
- Graduate student goalie Michael Bone made his fourth start of the season in net while sophomore keeper Andrew Remias earned his first career victory as a goalie, playing the final 45 minutes of the match
