SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's soccer team scored the game-tying goal with just 23 seconds to play in regulation before netting the winning goal with 1:04 left in the second overtime as the Greyhounds went on the road to defeat The University of Scranton, 2-1, in Landmark Conference action Saturday.
How It Happened
- The Greyhounds and the Royals played through a scoreless first half
- Scranton broke onto the scoreboard first in the 64th minute for a 1-0 edge
- The Hounds knotted the score in the 90th minute when senior forward Andrew Goodolf found the net low inside the right pass off of a short crossing pass from sophomore defender Jake Crawford
- Both squads would put three shots on goal in the first overtime, but the match remained tied at 1-1
- The Blue and Grey fired off five shots in the second overtime. The fifth shot came from sophomore forward Reed Sturza and it was blocked. The ball fell to Goodolf, who ripped it into the open net for the game-winner
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had a 19-10 advantage in shots including 9-4 in the two overtime sessions while Scranton had a 9-5 edge in corner kicks
- Goodolf picked up his third and four goals of the season and second game-winning goal of 2021. He has eight goals and four assists in his career with the Greyhounds
- Crawford recorded his first career assist
- Sophomore goalie Andrew Remias played the 90 minutes of regulation and posted one save
- Sophomore keeper Christian Beebe came in for the overtime sessions and recorded three saves in 19 minutes of action including back-to-back saves in the first overtime period. The victory was the first of Beebe's career
- The victory was the first of the season for the Greyhounds in Landmark Conference action
