GALLOWAY, N.J. --- The No. 29 Moravian University men's cross country team won the 2024 NCAA Division III Metro Regional Championship hosted by Stockton (N.J.) University Saturday to claim an automatic berth to the 2024 NCAA Division III National Championships.
How It Happened
- The Greyhounds finished with 29 points, placing 32 points ahead of runner-up Rowan University
- Moravian will be heading as a team to the 2024 NCAA Division III National Championships hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. This is the first time the Hounds have qualified as a team, and prior to 2024, Moravian had only qualified individuals with six runners earning 11 appearances
- The Hounds finished the race with six of their top seven runners earning All-Region honors, the most in a single regional in program history
- Senior Owen Nahf placed third of the 186 runners with a personal best time of 24:52.0, the seventh best in program history, on the 8,000-meter course, and he was joined in the top ten by senior Nathan Hajel in fourth at a PR time of 24:52.4, junior Bryan Kerchner at sixth with a PR time of 24:56.3, graduate student Cole Stanchina in seventh at a PR time of 24:59.9 and sophomore Gavin Hefferan at ninth in a PR time of 25:06.4
- Graduate student Josh Mangini also garnered All-Region honors for a 28th place finish in a time of 25:46.4
- Graduate student Casey Frank was 37th overall in 26:02.0 to round out the Moravian runners
