TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University graduate student Josh Mangini has been named as the 2024 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for Men's Cross Country.

The Landmark Conference selects 23 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators and sports information directors. Chosen at the conclusion of each sport season, the seven fall honorees are being announced this week.

This fall, Mangini earned Landmark All-Conference First Team honors with a seventh-place finish at the 2024 Landmark Conference Championships on November 2 as he helped the Greyhounds capture their fourth straight and sixth overall Landmark Conference Team Championship. Mangini garnered All-Metro Region honors on November 16 as he placed 28th of 186 runners to help the program win its first Metro Regional title. Last weekend, Mangini placed 214th of 294 runners at the NCAA Division III National Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana where the Hounds finished 22nd of 32 teams in the program's first appearance as a team in the championship meet.

Mangini was a three-time Landmark All-Conference runner, making the First Team in 2022 (third) and 2024 (seventh) and the Second Team in 2023 (tenth). Mangini was also a member of the All-Metro Region squad three times, finishing in the top 35 of the regional in 2022 (16th), 2023 (21st) and 2024 (28th). Mangini's career-best 8,000-meter time of 25:37.8 at the Rowan University Border Battle in 2023. On the track, Mangini earned Landmark All-Conference Honorable Mention honors in the 10,000-meter run at the 2024 Landmark Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Off the cross country course and track, Mangini has made Moravian's Dean's Honors List six times as well as being a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. He will be a 12-time member of the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. Mangini, who is a graduate student, is working towards his MBA in data analytics after graduating from Moravian with a bachelor's degree in business administration last May with a 3.65 grade point average. Mangini was selected to the 2022 and 2023 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team for Cross Country as well as the 2023 and 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District for Track & Field and Cross Country. Mangini is also a member of the Amhrein Investment Club at Moravian.

"Josh is one of those student-athletes who you never have to think about as a coach," commented Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "He's exceptionally responsible, reliable, self-sufficient, and organized. Right now, he's juggling over 20 hours a week with a job while still excelling in his MBA program, and clearly thriving as a runner by being a key reason for our team's historic season. He sets a strong example for his teammates, both on how to effectively juggle myriad tasks, but also with an unrivaled work ethic on the team even as he's managed a number of injury risks in his time here. Our team is as strong as it is because of the example he shows on how to excel as a student-athlete."

Mangini is Moravian's 44th Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete since the conference began in 2007-08, and he is the third men's cross country student-athlete to be honored. The Greyhounds have had a total of 13 student-athletes from the men's cross country and track & field programs honored as Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athletes.
