TOWSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference has named 67 student-athletes to the All-Sportsmanship Team. The All-Sportsmanship Team includes one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team.

The All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes who epitomize the ideals of sportsmanship. The student-athletes selected demonstrate fair play, graciousness in victory and respectfulness in defeat. They are ambassadors for the team, both on and off the field, and galvanize their teammates toward their goals. These student-athletes exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, spectators, and the greater campus community.

The All-Sportsmanship Team was created by the Landmark Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in 2013 as a way to highlight student-athletes who are making an impact. The Landmark previously awarded a Sportsmanship Cup before the All-Sportsmanship Team replaced the Cup for the 2013-14 academic year.

Football
Senior linebacker Chad Newhard is the football squad’s Landmark Conference All-Sportsmanship honoree. Newhard has recorded 39 tackles this season while helping the Greyhounds to their first winning season since 2017 with a 6-4 record and a berth in the Cape Charles Bowl of the Chesapeake Challenge Bowl Series on November 23. Newhard has added two and a half tackle for loss, half a sack and a pass break-up in nine games.

“Chad Newhard exemplifies a true student-athlete,” commented Head Football Coach Jeff Long. “He has been a major contributor since his freshman year and has battled through major injuries to continue his impact on the field all while excelling in the classroom. I cannot wait to see all his accomplishments in life after football.”

Women’s Soccer
Senior midfielder Anika Buzzy was limited to seven matches in her senior season this fall due to an injury. She was a member of the 2023 Landmark All-Conference First Team, and Buzzy scored a pair of goals in her career that was limited to 38 matches due to injuries.

“Anika has represented our program exceptionally well,” noted Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk. “Her leadership as captain was tremendous, even during a season when she was injured most of the time. She is a kind-natured person who loves the sport of soccer and our program.”

Men’s Soccer
Graduate student defender Vito Leone is the men’s soccer team’s selection to the All-Sportsmanship Team. Leone scored his only career goal this fall, and he helped anchor a defense that posted six shutouts while leading the Hounds to a 9-5-5 overall record and the program’s first home conference postseason match since 1983.

“Congratulations to Vito Leone for being named to the Landmark Conference All-Sportsmanship Team,” stated Head Coach Bob Wilkinson. “Vito always treats others with respect and supports his teammates both on and off the field. He has been a good role model for his teammates and is a good example of what it means to be a student athlete in our program and at Moravian. We look forward to what comes next for what he will accomplish. Tallyho Vito!”

Volleyball
Senior opposite hitter Makenzie Krasley was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team from Moravian’s volleyball squad. Krasley played in 32 matches for the Greyhounds this fall as she contributed 173 kills, 67 digs, 37 blocks, 23 service aces and six assists.
