BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University is continuing its look back at its 2023-24 athletic campaign. The next entry in our second countdown of the summer – the Top 10 Stories of the Year selected by the athletic administration – is our No. 3 highlight – the softball program winning its second straight Landmark Conference title and hosting an NCAA Division III Regional at Blue & Grey Field for the first time.
The Greyhounds captured their second straight and 11th overall Landmark Conference Tournament at Blue & Grey Field on Saturday and Sunday, May 11-12. The Hounds defeated Lycoming College, 3-2, and The Catholic University of America, 2-1 in eight innings, on the first day before a 5-1 victory over Lycoming in the championship round gave Moravian an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The program has captured a total of 19 conference titles since 2000, and the Blue & Grey have won nine of their 11 Landmark Conference titles at home as the top seed.
On Monday, May 13 as the final pod for the 2024 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament field was announced, the Greyhounds heard that they were selected to host an NCAA Regional for the first time in the program's 20th NCAA Tournament appearance. Moravian welcomed Penn College, Muskingum University and Roanoke (Va.) College to Blue & Grey Field May 16-18. The Hounds defeated Penn College in the regional's first contest before falling to Muskingum and Roanoke to end the season with a 31-10 record.
The number two story in the countdown will be released on Friday, July 26.
