BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- During the Fall 2024-25 semester, we have be highlighting student-athletes and their work outside the playing arena. Our final feature is Sage Snyder.

Sage Snyder '25 is studying Health Science and minoring in Psychology. The outfielder for the Moravian University Softball Team is making her mark as a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Co-Chair.

SAAC is a coalition of student-athletes from each sport that advocate for the student-athlete experience. They communicate with coaches, athletic staff, and on a greater scale, the NCAA. SAAC is overseen by Brynn McNamara, the Associate Athletic Director for Student Experience, and Caroline Pape, the Head Women's Lacrosse Coach.

The committee is made up of at least two student-athletes per team to make a collective group. Snyder works with three other student-athletes to maintain the work that SAAC does. Her Co-Chair is senior volleyball player, Emily Solomon. The two of them are supported by senior track and field athlete, Caillie Fish, the External Operations Coordinator, and junior baseball player, Sean Superka, the Internal Operations Coordinator.

Snyder primarily oversees the Mental Health Committee in SAAC.

"We do our best to help plan mental health events and make resources available for student-athletes," Snyder said.

The committee often collaborates with the Peers and Wellness Team (PAW) to promote mental health awareness around campus. This includes advertising for Hidden Opponent games for every sport and providing events for student-athletes to attend.

"Our primary goal in the Mental Health Committee is to promote resources such as the Counseling and Psychological Services Center for student-athlete use," Snyder said.

Snyder works hard on and off the field. She has been recognized for several accolades such as earning First Team All-Conference her last two years and Third Team All-Region last year.

Her goal for this coming season is for her team to work hard to go farther in competition than last year. Snyder thinks highly of her team and believes they can accomplish great things.
