TOWSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference announced its 2024 Fall Academic Honor Roll selections today, with 837 student-athletes receiving recognition including 98 from Moravian University. The Honor Roll recognizes all fall student-athletes who have reached sophomore standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher.
Of the 837 student-athletes, a total of 470 received the recognition at least once. Additionally, 12 Landmark All-Conference major award winners, and seven Fall Senior Scholar Athletes were named to the Academic Honor Roll.
The spring academic honor roll will be announced in late May or early June. The honor roll will include all spring sports as well as men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s swimming & diving, and men’s and women’s indoor track & field.
Moravian had student-athletes from all seven of its fall teams that compete in the conference with the women’s soccer program leading the way with 19 honorees. The football team had 18 selections while the women’s cross country squad had 16 student-athletes selected. The men’s soccer and men’s cross country programs both registered 14 honorees followed by the women’s volleyball squad with nine selections and the field hockey team had eight student-athletes selected.
The women’s soccer team placed graduate student Riley Spingler, seniors Anika Buzzy, Kylie Hughes, Chelsea Meltzer, Cori Pursel, Carly Pyatt, Natalie Reilly, Maya Santos, Hailey Scaff and Taylor Yoder, juniors Grace Blenis, Colby Roach and Elliot Rupp and sophomores Reagan Bleiler, Sara Hopkins, Ava Hull, Amanda McNesby, Caitlyn Phillips and Casey Sabolsky on the Academic Honor Roll. Buzzy, Hughes, Meltzer, Pursel, Pyatt, Reilly, Santos, Scaff and Yoder are all three-time honorees.
The football team in its second year as a Landmark Conference sport and had graduate students Ian Brunner, Declan Coors and Joey Richmond, seniors Jeremiah Espinosa, Brandon Guffy, Jared Jenkins, Dalton Kucher and Prince Sokpo, juniors Nathan Carr, Isiah Rico and Josh Ruela and sophomores Liam Case, Nick Coffaro, Elijah Fajardo, Avery Koser, Mason Ludlow, Cole Maholtz and Mike Willis named to the Academic Honor Roll. Sokpo was a three-year honoree including one year by the Centennial Conference.
The women’s cross country squad placed seniors Rachael Goodman, Hannah Kolonoski, Catie Lovett, Ally Meeks, Lily Mingora, Rylie Murphy, Amber Poniktera and Lexi Rushatz, juniors Tori Champagne, Meghan Myers, Sarah Rice, Tara Smurla and sophomores Alexis Hockenberry, Alyssa Hockenberry, Kierstyn Klingner and Kayla O’Neil on the Academic Honor Roll. It was the third selection for Goodman, Kolonoski, Lovett, Meeks, Mingora, Murphy, Poniktera and Rushatz.
The men’s soccer squad program had graduate students Donald Gibbs, Vito Leone and Reed Sturza, seniors Dan Ingersoll, Ben Scary and Kyle Weiss, juniors Matt Benolken, Nathan Bonvallet, Casey Foley and Joe Petricoin and sophomores Ryan Goldberg, Ryan Latchford, Nick Milonas and Max Teneza named to the Academic Honor Roll. Gibbs and Leone earned the honor for a fourth time while Sturza and Weiss were honored for a third fall.
The men’s cross country team had graduate students Casey Frank, Josh Mangini and Cole Stanchina, seniors Jake Farrell, Geoffrey Kleinberg, Owen Nahf and Wyatt Poniktera, junior Bryan Kerchner and sophomores Dylan Benbow, Xander DiMatteo, Jordan Gagner, Gavin Hefferan, Adam Plummer and Jackson Royds each being honored. Frank and Mangini earned a spot on the Academic Honor Roll for the fourth straight fall while Farrell, Kleinberg, Nahf and Poniktera were honored for a third consecutive year.
The women’s volleyball squad had seniors Jenna Deegan and Makenzie Krasley, juniors Caroline Melillo and Ally Plitnick and sophomores Molly Hughes, Gabbie Reigner, Payton Reuber, Kelly Tempasky and Julia Zaprazny named to the Academic Honor Roll. Deegan and Krasley were honored for the third time.
The field hockey squad placed seniors Sydney Anderson, Marianna Crisafulli, Lexi Dinsmore and Savannah Sutter, juniors Megan Felmly and Jessica Knox and sophomores Maia Machado and Maddie Snyder on the Academic Honor Roll. Anderson, Crissafulli, Dinsmore and Sutter are each three-time selections.
