CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Sophomore guard/forward Lizzie Lustig and junior forward Marquis Ratcliff from the Moravian University basketball teams have been selected to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Team of the Year by the LVSCB Organization at its final luncheon of the 2024-25 season at DeSales University, and Ratcliff was honored as the 2025 Peter Nevins Men's Player of the Year.
The Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization is made up of the six small college schools in the Lehigh Valley including NCAA Division II schools East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and NCAA Division III schools Cedar Crest College, DeSales University, Moravian University and Muhlenberg College.
Lustig has helped lead the Greyhounds to a 5-18 overall record and a 3-13 Landmark Conference record as Moravian has played seven nationally ranked opponents. This winter, Lustig is averaging 11.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game to go along with 42 assists, 17 steals, 12 three-pointers and seven blocked shots.
"Lizzie has developed into a versatile player who can play multiple positions and play them well," stated Acting Head Coach Kelly Fallara. "Lizzie stepped into a leadership role this season as a player who we depended on to perform well on both offense and defense. She covers the opposing team's best player on defense, and she is one of our main scoring options on offence, although we'd like her to shoot more. She's been a joy to coach this season, and we're excited to have her for two more years."
Joining Lustig on the Team of the Year were Emily Chmiel of East Stroudsburg, Ava Connolly of Muhlenberg, Mikaili Donmoyer of DeSales, Caylie Long of Cedar Crest and Naia Pulliam of Kutztown. Chmiel was selected as the Peter Nevins Women's Player of the Year for the 2024-25 season by the LVSCB Organization, which is voted on by the head coaches, media and athletic communications staffs at the luncheon.
The LVSCBO also honored its 2025 Scholar-Athlete Team at the luncheon and the women's team included Moravian's Mikayla Anderson, Emily Unger of Muhlenberg, Morgan Sterner of DeSales, Emily Chmiel of East Stroudsburg, Rachel Bilger of Cedar Crest and Shannon Remolde of Kutztown.
Ratcliff, who was named to the LVSCB Organization Team of the Year for the third consecutive winter, has helped the Hounds to a 15-8 overall and 10-6 mark in Landmark Conference action as the Blue & Grey have clinched a postseason berth for the first time since 2019-20. Ratcliff is averaging 19.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest this winter in his third season, and he has also contributed 40 blocked shots, 29 assists, 23 steals and 25 three-pointers. Ratcliff has six double-doubles on the season and 27 in his career, and he is shooting 52.3 percent (138-of-264) from the field. Ratcliff has moved into tenth in program history with 1,337 points, 11th in rebounds with 628 and tied for second in blocked shots with 151.
"We are really proud of Marquis to earn the Player of the Year award," commented Head Coach Darryl Keckler. "He has consistently competed hard, game in and game out. This year, he has taken more of a role off the court, and he has sacrificed some scoring to become a more all-around player to make us a better team. He continues to develop and grow as a player and as a person."
Joining Ratcliff on the Team of the Year were Jalen Bryant of Kutztown, Caleb Gibbs of DeSales, Lakeem McAliley of East Stroudsburg and Giovanni Rubino of Muhlenberg. Ratcliff was named the Peter Nevins Men's Player of the Year for the 2024-25 season by the LVSCB Organization, and Ratcliff is the second Moravian player to receive the honor, joining Brandon Zaleski, who was the 2003 Peter Nevins Men's Player of the Year.
The 2025 men's LVSCBO Scholar-Athlete Team honored at the luncheon including Moravian's Taylor Perlmutter, Drew Greene of Muhlenberg, Devin Anderson of DeSales, Carson Howard of East Stroudsburg and Yahmir Satterfield of Kutztown.
