BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Junior Tara Smurla of Moravian University's women's cross country team has been named the Moravian Student-Athlete of the Week Fueled by Honey Stinger for her performance last week.
Smurla, who earned her second Moravian Student-Athlete of the Week Fueled by Honey Stinger of the fall, won the individual NCAA Division III Metro Regional title, finishing first of 182 runners, shaving 15 seconds off her PR, with a best time of 21:40.8 on the 6,000-meter course. Smurla earns All-Region honors for the third straight year and a trip to the national championships for the second consecutive fall season. She is now the fourth NCAA Regional individual champion in Moravian history.
The women's cross country team will return to action on Saturday, November 23 at the 2024 NCAA Division III National Championships hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind., 11:00 a.m.
The Moravian Student-Athlete of the Week Fueled by Honey Stinger is selected on Mondays by Moravian's athletic department leadership team.
