Moravian Women Set Five School Marks in Opening Day of 2023 Landmark Conference Championships

BOYDS, Md. --- The Moravian University women's swimming team had five personal best times and five school records on the opening day of the 2023 Landmark Conference Swimming Championships at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center Friday.

How It Happened

  • Sophomore Catie Lovett set the school record in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25.85 seconds
  • Senior Jaelyn Mitchell had a school record time of 5:56.08 in the 500-yard freestyle as she took five seconds off the previous mark
  • Sophomore Sarah Mazzetti swam to a school record in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:34.00, taking a second and a half of the record
  • Senior Marissa Werner posted a PR time of 26.83 in the 50-yard freestyle
  • Senior Sydney Steere finished with a PR time of 28.09 seconds as she took a second off her previous career best
  • The Greyhounds 200-meter freestyle relay team of Lovett, Mitchell, Steere and Werner swam a school record time of 1:46.88 to finish seventh and earn 24 points
  • Moravian's 400-meter medley relay squad of Lovett, Mazzetti, Mitchell and Werner finished the night with a school record time of 4:34.89 to place seventh and garner another 24 points
  • The Hounds are in seventh place after the first day of action with 48 points
