Three Hounds Selected as College Sports Communicators Women’s Swimming Academic All-District

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University senior Jaelyn Mitchell and Marissa Werner and sophomore Catie Lovett have been honored on the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women's Swimming Team for NCAA Division III schools.

To be eligible for CSC Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.50 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. Moravian has had 56 Greyhounds named CSC Academic All-Americans®.

By making the All-District Team, the trio of student-athletes are now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for CSC Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced Monday, March 20.

Mitchell, who is majoring in Health Sciences/Pre-Physical Therapy with a minor in public health to go with a 3.79 GPA, set school records in 500-yard freestyle (5:56.08) and 100-yard butterfly (1:04.38) at 2023 Landmark Championships. She also has school records in the 200-yard butterfly (2:28.22), the 200-yard freestyle (2:12.73) and is part of four relay school records, the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle and 200-medley and 400-medley relays with Werner and Lovett. Mitchell has made Moravian's Dean's Honors List seven times, and she is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma National Athlete Honor Society as well as a two-time Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Werner, who is a Pre-Athletic Training/Exercise Science major with a 3.83 GPA, has the school record in 50-yard backstroke (31.16) while also part of the four relay record teams. Werner also played on Moravian's women's soccer team for two seasons, and she has been on the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll twice & Fall Academic Honor Roll once. Werner has made Moravian's Dean's Honors List seven times, and she is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society, Moravian's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, an executive board member of the Public Health Club and a student photographer for Athletic Communications.

Lovett, who is majoring in nursing with a 3.89 GPA, set school records in 50-yard freestyle (25.85) and 100-yard freestyle (57.82) at 2023 Landmark Conference Championships. She also has the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.31) and 200-yard backstroke (2:34.74) school records in addition to being on the four school record relay teams. Lovett also runs on Moravian's cross country and track & field team, and she is a three-time member of Moravian's Dean's Honors List while making the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll in cross country, and she will make the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll in both swimming and track & field this spring. Lovett is also a member of Psychology Club, Habitat for Humanity and American Sign Language clubs at Moravian as well as the Student Nurses Association.
