Women's Track & Field Places 6th at Lafayette 7-Way Meet

EASTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's track & field team placed sixth of eight teams at the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet Saturday with three individual champions and eight ECAC Division III Championship qualifying performances.

The Greyhounds scored 36 points in the meet of schools from all three NCAA Divisions. NCAA Division I Rider University finished first with 143 points while the host Leopards were second with 105 points.

Junior Allison Vanek and sophomore Hailey Kester tied for first in the pole vault, clearing an ECAC qualifying height of 3.57 meters (11 feet, 8 ½ inches). The height also moves the duo into a tie for sixth on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list that will have the top 22 individuals and top 16 relay teams at the end of the season in each event heading to the NCAA Division III National Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Sophomore Dana Fineman was sixth in the pole vault at 3.12 meters (10 feet, 2 ¾ inches) while junior Amanda Smilgis finished ninth at 2.82 meters (nine feet, three inches).

Senior Micah Leonard captured first in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying leap of 11.63 meters (38 feet, two inches), a distance that puts her third on the TFRRS list. Kester also placed ninth in the triple jump at 9.85 meters (32 feet, 3 ¾ inches).

On the track, Moravian's 4x100-meter relay team of sophomores Brianna Wright, Brielle Sutter and Morgan Redmond and freshman Corinne Glass was fifth in an ECAC qualifying time of 49.68 seconds, which is 17th on the TFRRS list. Glass was fifth in the 100-meter dash in a ECAC qualifying time of 12.68 seconds, and she finished seventh in the 200-meter dash with an ECAC qualifying time of 25.81 seconds, which is 15th on the TFRRS list.

Sutter also had an ECAC qualifying mark in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.29 seconds while Redmond was eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:08.45 and 12th in the 100-meter hurdles with an ECAC qualifying time of 15.75 seconds. Sophomore Devon Bedell finished seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12:46.09 while senior Emma Pacheco was eighth in 13:13.66.

Freshman Tyler Clore placed fifth in the javelin throw with a toss of 30.10 meters (98 feet, nine inches) while freshman Karlee Corvasce was sixth at 29.37 meters (96 feet, four inches) and sophomore Allissa Hoffman was eighth at 27.32 meters (89 feet, seven inches). Hoffman also finished ninth in the shot put with a toss of 9.65 meters (31 feet, eight inches).

 The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Friday, April 5th when the squad travels to the first day of the Sam Howell Invitational hosted by Princeton University.
