Leonard Breaks School Record in Triple Jump at Greyhound Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's track & field teams its their annual non-scoring Greyhound Invitational at Timothy Breidegam Track & Rocco Calvo Field Saturday.

The Greyhounds had one event winner, a school record and five ECAC Division III Championship qualifiers in the meet. Senior Micah Leonard won the triple jump with a school record and ECAC qualifying mark of 11.97 meters (39 feet, 3 ¼ inches), a distance that moves her to fourth on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list that will have the top 22 individuals and top 16 relay teams at the end of the season in each event heading to the NCAA Division III National Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Leonard's jump was on her first of the finals.

Sophomore Hailey Kester was sixth in the pole vault, clearing an ECAC qualifying height of 3.40 meters (11 feet, 1 ¾ inches), which would be 31st on the TFRRS list but Kester is already tied for 16th.

On the track, sophomore Brielle Sutter was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 57.77 seconds, the second fastest time in school history and a mark that puts her 17th on the TFRRS list. Freshman Corinne Glass was tenth in the event with an ECAC qualifying time of 59.62 seconds.

Sutter ran the leadoff leg of Moravian's 4x400-meter relay squad that finished third with an ECAC qualifying time 4:01.11, the eighth best time in school history and 41st on the TFRRS list. Glass ran the second leg while junior Allison Vanek ran the third leg and sophomore Morgan Redmond ran the anchor leg. Redmond also placed tenth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.98.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday and Sunday, April 27th and 28th at the 2013 Landmark Conference Championships hosted by Goucher College. Both Moravian squads will be looking to win their sixth straight Landmark Conference Outdoor titles.
