Hounds to Open 2019 Baseball Season in Virginia on February 22

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College baseball team is slated to start the 2019 season with a pair of southern trips including three games in Virginia to begin the schedule on February 22.

The Hounds will make their annual trip to Hampden-Sydney (Va.) College to play in the Ty Cobb Classic on February 22-24 with games versus Southern Virginia University, Keystone College and host Hampden-Sydney. After a contest at Kean University on February 26, the Greyhounds will travel to the Snowbird Classic in Punta Gorda, Florida for seven games from March 3-8 including two games each with Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) College, Heidelberg (Ohio) University and Misericorida University and a single contest versus Bluffton (Ohio) University.

After playing its first 11 games of the season on the road, Moravian returns home to Gillespie Field for the home opener on Wednesday, March 13 versus Rutgers-Camden.

The Blue and Grey will start their 2019 Landmark Conference season with a three-game series at Drew University on March 16-17. As was the set-up in 2018, the conference weekend doubleheader consisting of one seven-inning game and one nine-inning game while the single contest on the second day of the series is a nine-inning contest.

Moravian returns to Gillespie Field on March 19 to start a nine-game home stand with a non-conference contest versus New Jersey City University. The Greyhounds welcomes Montclair State University on March 20 before a Landmark Conference series versus Elizabethtown College on March 23-24. The Blue and Grey have a non-conference matchup with Penn State Berks on March 27 while a Landmark Conference series with Susquehanna University closes out the home stand on March 30-31.

The Greyhounds start April with a seven-game road trip including a single game at Albright College on April 2, a doubleheader at St. John Fisher (N.Y.) College on April 7, a single contest at Rowan University on April 10 and a Landmark Conference series at The Catholic University of America on April 13-14 in Washington D.C. Moravian returns to Blue and Grey Field on April 17 for a non-conference matchup with Alvernia University before the single game of the Landmark Conference series with The University of Scranton on April 18.

The squad hosts former conference foe The United States Merchant Marine Academy in a non-conference doubleheader on April 20 before DeSales University comes to Gillespie Field on April 24. Moravian makes its final road trip of the year for a Landmark Conference series at Juniata College on April 27-28 before closing the regular season with a doubleheader versus Scranton on May 4 to finish their 2019 regular season.

The Landmark Conference Tournament will be held May 10-12 at Scranton's turf field for a second straight year with a double-elimination format over the three days with the conference champion receiving an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
