Carmine Palummo named Landmark Conference Baseball Player of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior outfielder Carmine Palummo has been named the Landmark Conference Baseball Player of the Week for his performance last week.

Palummo hit .563 in a 3-1 week for the Greyhounds that saw Moravian clinch a berth in the 2019 Landmark Conference Tournament. Palummo was 9-for-16 during the week with five runs, three doubles, two triples, five RBIs and two stolen bases for a .588 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage. He also had five putouts in six changes in right field. Palummo was 3-for-4 with a run and a double in a 12-3 loss to DeSales University before going 6-for-12 with four runs, two doubles, two triples and five RBIs in a Landmark Conference series sweep at Juniata College to clinch the team's 10th Landmark Conference Tournament berth.

"Carmine had an exceptional week and helped his team tremendously," noted Head Coach Paul Engelhardt. "His extra work, playing through some injuries and approach have continued to grow. I'm happy for him, and I'm sure Carmine would want to share this with his teammates. As our lead-off hitter, how he does is a direct reflection on how the guys behind him will do."

Moravian is slated to return to action on Thursday, May 2 when the squad hosts Messiah College in a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Gillespie Field.
