Evan Kulig selected as Landmark Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior pitcher Evan Kulig has been selected as the Landmark Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his performance last week.

Kulig earned the victory in the Greyhounds' 8-4 win over The University of Scranton in the final game of the regular season as the Hounds clinched the second seed in the 2019 Landmark Conference Tournament. Pitching for the final time at Gillespie Field on Sunday Day, Kulig recorded eight strikeouts in eight innings to become the 19th pitcher in program history to reach 100 career strikeouts with his final punch out of the afternoon. During a 2-1 week for Moravian, Kulig also collected two hits and an RBI at the plate to go with one assist and two putouts in the field.

"Evan is very deserving of this honor," stated Head Coach Paul Engelhardt. "He has pitched very well all year but has had a few no decisions. It was nice to see him get a win and his 100th strikeout on Senior Day, but I'm sure Evan would want to share this award with his teammates. We'll rely on his senior leadership heading in the conference tournament this weekend."

Moravian, 20-19-1 overall and 12-6 in the Landmark Conference regular season, is scheduled to face third seed The Catholic University of America in an opening round game at the 2019 Landmark Conference Tournament being hosted by The University of Scranton on Friday, May 10 at 7:00 p.m.
