Men’s Soccer Travels to Fuzzy Williams Memorial Tournament This Weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Moravian College men's soccer team heads to Bethany (W.Va.) College for the Fuzzy Williams Memorial Tournament this Friday and Saturday.

The Greyhounds battle Washington & Lee University on Friday, August 31st at 3 p.m. and they take on Stevenson University on Saturday, September 1st at 1 p.m.

Moravian returns seven letterwinners from last season while fourth-year head coach Todd Ervin has brought in 22 newcomers to the squad.

Senior co-captain and goalie Mike Brand (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) comes back after starting 17 of 18 games in net last season. He made 118 saves in 1,398 minutes. Classmate co-captain midfielder Nick Hurff (Sewell, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) returns after playing in all 18 games while junior forward co-captain Jeffrey Algor (Spring Lake Heights, N.J./Manasquan) started all 18 games and scored two goals to go with one assists.

Also returning to the pitch is senior forward John Pavia (Manasquan, N.J./Manasquan), who tallied four goals and four assists last fall. Sophomore midfielder Lewis Cooper (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) played in all 18 games and scored one goal. Junior defender Justin Dilts (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) was one of Moravian's most consistent defenders after starting in every single contest while sophomore midfielder Chris Gomez (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) played in all but one game during the 2011 campaign.

The Greyhounds' first home game will be on Saturday, September 8th versus Baptist Bible (Pa.) College. The game is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on the HUB Quad.
