Men's Soccer Post Shutout Against Baptist Bible

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Moravian College men's soccer team defeated Baptist Bible College, 3-0, Saturday afternoon. Senior goalkeeper Mike Brand and freshman goalie Brian Boland combined for the shutout.

Moravian would get off to a quick start when freshman forward Andrew Arcell took a pass from classmate midfielder Seth Reynolds and planted it in the back of a net for a 1-0 lead just nine minutes in. Less than two minutes later freshman forward Ryan Karnopp took a lead pass from classmate defender Matthew Gandy to score his second goal of the season while giving the Greyhounds a 2-0 lead.

Moravian kept the pressure on in the first half with 14 shots and eight corner kicks. The Defenders only got three shots off while having one corner kick.

The Greyhounds would get a penalty kick just two minutes into the second half. Sophomore midfielder Lewis Cooper would take the shot put it past the keeper to extend Moravian's lead to 3-0. That would be it for Baptist Bible as the Greyhounds would go onto win 3-0.

Brand tallied one save in 65 minutes of work while Boland worked the final 25 minutes of the match. Their counterpart Dillon Bowman made ten saves in 90 minutes while allowing three goals.

The Greyhounds outshot the Defenders 21-7, and held the corner kick advantage at 9-2.

The Greyhounds return to action on Wednesday, September 12th as they travel to rival Muhlenberg College for a Matte Award Match. The contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.
