Men's Soccer Wins Overtime Thriller Versus Rosemont, 2-1

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Moravian College men's soccer team came back to defeat Rosemont College, 2-1, in overtime Thursday afternoon. Freshman forward Ryan Karnopp netted the game-winner for the Greyhounds in overtime.

The Ravens got on the board first just two minutes into the game after senior forward Patrick McElroy took a pass from senior defender Ron Vogelei and drilled it from 20 yards out to the left side of the goal. Moravian wouldn't wait long to tie it up as sophomore midfielder Lewis Cooper crossed a pass to freshman forward Zachary Klein, who headed it in to knot the contest at one. The two teams would battle to the end of the half without either giving an inch as the Greyhounds took a 1-1 tie into the locker room.

Karnopp had a chance to push Moravian ahead in the 60th minute, but sophomore goalkeeper Max McDonald made the tough save. The Greyhounds would get ten shots off in the second half as opposed to the Ravens six shots, but both teams would stayed tied as the match went into overtime.

Karnopp netted the game-winning goal 11 minutes into the overtime period to win it for the Greyhounds. He rocketed a shot into the left side of the net to end the contest, and give Moravian a 2-1 victory.

Senior goalie Mike Brand allowed one goal over 101 minutes while making five saves. His counterpart, McDonald made seven saves while allowing two goals.

Moravian outshot its opponent 20-17 while Rosemont held the corner kick advantage 8-7.

The Greyhounds have their home opener this Saturday, September 8th as they host Baptist Bible College. The match is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on the HUB Quad.
