Greyhounds Rally to Defeat Bryn Athyn 2-1

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Moravian College men's soccer team defeated Bryn Athyn College, 2-1, Tuesday afternoon. Junior defender Jeffrey Algor scored the game-winning goal with 11 minutes left in the contest.

The Lions got on the board first with a goal from junior forward Blake McCurdy with freshman midfielder Christian Buss assisting on the play. Moravian pressured Bryn Athyn the whole first half by outshooting them, 9-2 and taking one more corner kick.

It would take a while for the Greyhounds to get on the board in the second half, but senior forward John Pavia would tie the game at one in the 73rd minute. Just six minutes later Algor would net the game-winning goal to secure Moravian's third victory of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Brian Boland would get his first start in this fall, and make six saves while allowing one goal. His counterpart junior goalie Dustin Synnestvedt made eight saves, and allowed two goals.

Moravian outshot the Lions 20-7 while holding the corner kick advantage, 7-2.

The Greyhounds return to action on Saturday, September 29th as they travel to Landmark Conference foe Drew University. The match is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
