Greyhounds Comeback to Defeat Berkeley, 3-2

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Moravian College men's soccer team defeated Berkeley (N.J.) College, 3-2, Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman defender Brett Harder almost put the Greyhounds up in the 17th minute, but sent his shot just inches over the post. The Knights took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute when freshman defender Thomas Cruz put the third rebound into the back of the net. Moravian would knot the match at one with a goal from sophomore defender Matt Guidon in the 39th minute. Freshman forward Shane Harder gave Guidon the lead pass to net his first goal of the season.

Berkeley would retake the lead in the 68th minute with a goal from Xhulio Albrahimi. Freshman goalkeeper Brian Boland made back-to-back saves before allowing the goal. The Greyhounds answered back in the 72nd with a header goal from freshman midfielder Seth Reynolds off a cross pass from freshman defender Matthew Gandy. Moravian then took the lead in the 78th minute with a goal from Gandy, and freshman forward Zachary Klein assisting on the play.

Boland earned his third victory of the season after tallying seven saves in the match. His counterpart sophomore Thomas Frangieh made three saves.

Moravian outshot Berkeley, 16-11, and held the corner kick advantage 10-3.

The Greyhounds return to the pitch on Saturday, October 13th as they host Landmark Conference foe The United States Merchant Marine Academy. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m. on the HUB Quad.
