Moravian Falls Short to #19 Scranton

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Moravian College men's soccer team fell to nationally-ranked No. 19 and Landmark Conference rival The University of Scranton, 2-1, Wednesday afternoon.

The Royals would get on the board in the 5th minute as sophomore forward Kevin Kozic took a pass from senior midfielder Bill McGuniess, and knocked it in off the post. Freshman midfielder Seth Reynolds had a chance to tie it in the eighth minute, but headed his shot just wide of the goal. Scranton extended its lead to 2-0 in the 13th minute when McGuniess juked the defender and shot the ball to the right corner. Sophomore defender Matthew Guidon cut the lead to 2-1 for Moravian with a score off a scramble in front of the net.

Moravian would push Scranton in the second half, and have a couple of opportunities to knot the contest at two in the final minute but fall short in the end.

Senior goalkeeper Mike Brand made 11 saves in the loss while his counterpart, sophomore Josh Ryan tallied up four saves for the Royals.

The Greyhounds return to the pitch on Saturday, October 20th as they travel Landmark Conference foe Goucher College. The match scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
