Men's Soccer Falls to Goucher in Landmark Opener

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's soccer team dropped its 2014 Landmark Conference opener on Saturday, falling to Goucher College, 2-0, on the road.

The Gophers jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the fourth minute. The Greyhounds looked for the equalizer but junior midfielder Seth Reynolds had a shot blocked in the 10th minute and sophomore defender Ian Larimer pushed a header just wide less than a minute later. Goucher took a 2-0 lead in the 19th minute.

Reynolds nearly cut the lead in half just two minutes after the intermission but had his shot sail wide. The Hounds would have back-to-back shots in the 70th minute when freshman midfielder William Demmel put a header on goal after a corner kick from freshman defender/midfielder Corey Klaskin, and junior midfielder Brett Harder followed up hitting the rebound off of the crossbar.

Junior goalie Brian Boland made four saves for the Greyhounds.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Wednesday, September 24 in a non-conference match versus Delaware Valley College starting at 4:00 p.m. on the HUB Quad.
