Moravian Drops Non-Conference Match to No. 19 TCNJ

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University field hockey team dropped a 2-0 non-conference decision to visiting No. 19 The College of New Jersey on John Makuvek Field Wednesday evening.

How It Happened

  • The squads played a scoreless first half with TCNJ holding a 7-0 edge in shots
  • The Lions needed just 23 seconds into the second half to score the first goal of the contest. TCNJ added another goal with just under five minutes left in the third quarter to lead 2-0 after 45 minutes of action
  • Neither team was able to put a ball in the cage in the final period

Inside the Numbers

  • Freshman goalie Maia Machado registered five saves in the contest
  • Senior defender Jenna Segrave had a defensive save, her fourth of the year and ninth of her career to move into sole possession of fifth in program history. Segrave also had a shot on goal on a penalty corner for the Hounds
  • TCNJ finished with a 15-2 advantage in shots and a 10-4 edge in penalty corners
