Greyhounds Clinch Landmark Conference Tournament Berth & Home Game with Victory at Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian University field hockey squad clinched a berth and a home match in the 2023 Landmark Conference Tournament with a 1-0 victory at Juniata College Saturday.

How It Happened

  • The squads played a scoreless first half with the Hounds holding a 10-3 advantage in shots and a 10-2 edge in penalty corner through the first 30 minutes
  • The Greyhounds netted the only goal of the contest about five minutes into the third quarter when sophomore forward Gia Ambrosino put the ball in the cage 

Inside the Numbers

  • Ambrosino's goal was her team-leading sixth of the season
  • Freshman goalie Maia Machado registered one save for her fourth shutout of the fall and fourth in the last five matches
  • Senior defender Onalee Long also had a defensive save, her second of the year and ninth in her career
  • The Hounds finished the match with a 15-8 advantage in shots and an 18-8 edge on penalty corners
  • Moravian has clinched its third straight berth in the Landmark Conference Tournament. The Greyhounds will be the fourth seed and host a First Round match on John Makuvek Field on Saturday, October 28 at 1:00 p.m. against an opponent still to be determined
