MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian University field hockey team won its third consecutive Landmark Conference match with a 1-0 victory over host Drew University Wednesday evening.

How It Happened

  • Neither squad was able to get the ball into the cage in the first half with the Rangers holding a 7-5 edge in shots while the Greyhounds had a 9-4 advantage in penalty corners in the opening 30 minutes
  • Moravian would get the only match of the night with just 1:12 left in the third quarter. Senior defender Onalee Long sent a long pass in from the top of the circle to junior forward Sydney Anderson. Anderson knocked the pass down and tapped the ball over to sophomore Gia Ambrosino, who put the ball into the left side of cage
  • The Hounds' defense made the lead stand through the fourth quarter

Inside the Numbers

  • Ambrosino netted her team-leading fourth goal of the season and her fourth career goal as well while Anderson recorded her first assist of 2023 and the eighth of her career
  • Freshman goalie Maia Machado recorded five saves for her second career shutout
  • The Blue & Grey held a 22-10 advantage in shots and an 18-8 edge in penalty corners
