GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's soccer squad broke a 1-1 halftime tie with four second half goals as the Greyhounds defeated host Gwynedd Mercy University, 5-1, Monday afternoon.
How It Happened
- The Griffins opened with scoring on a rebound off a penalty kick in the 35th minute
- The Hounds needed just two minutes to knot the score as junior midfielder Tyler King blasted a long shot from outside of the 18-yard box off a pass from senior forward Ben Scary to make it 1-1
- Freshman defender Ryan Mullin gave the Blue & Grey the lead in the 59th minute as he drilled a loose ball into the right side of the net from the top of the 18-yard box
- Moravian stretched the lead to 3-1 just three minutes as freshman forward Joey Roth knocked in a cross pass from sophomore midfielder Colin Woehlcke inside the six-yard box
- Freshman forward Enzo Petruzzelli made it a 4-1 edge in the 75th minute as he tapped in a crossing pass from freshman midfielder Gavin Murray
- Freshman defender Evan Hubert converted on a penalty kick in the 77th minute for a 5-1 lead
Inside the Numbers
- King notched his third goal of the season while Mullin netted his second career goal
- Roth put his team-leading fourth goal of the year in the net while Petruzzelli and Hubert each scored their first career goals
- Scary earned his second assist of the season and fourth of his career while Woelhcke registered his second assist of 2024
- Graduate student goalie Christian Beebe made three saves in 77 minutes of action while junior keeper Casey Foley played the final 13 minutes
- The Blue & Grey also had one team save with the defense clearing a ball behind Beebe
