BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's soccer squad has earned the third seed in the 2024 Landmark Conference Tournament and will host sixth seed Elizabethtown College for a first round match on Tuesday, November 5 at 7:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field in Bethlehem.
Admission to Tuesday's match is $10 for adults and $5 for minors ages 10-17. Children ages nine and under are admitted free of charge, as are all Landmark Conference students, faculty and staff with their school ID. For the second straight year, the Landmark Conference Tournament features six teams with the top two seeds earning first round byes. The winner of the Moravian/Elizabethtown match will travel to second seed The Catholic University of America for a semifinal match on Thursday, November 7. Tuesday's other first round contest has fourth seed The University of Scranton hosting fifth seed Lycoming College at 7:00 p.m., and the winner of that match will head to top seed Juniata College for the other semifinal contest on November 7. The 2024 Landmark Conference Championship match is set for Saturday, November 9 at the highest remaining seed for the conference title and a berth to the 2024 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.
The Greyhounds, who are 9-4-5 overall and were 5-1-3 in the Landmark Conference regular season, are under the direction of seventh-year Head Coach Bob Wilkinson, who has guided Moravian to the postseason for the second consecutive fall and for the fourth time since his tenure began in 2018.
The home Landmark Conference playoff match is the first for Moravian since the conference began in 2007, and it is the first home conference postseason match since a 3-1 victory over Swarthmore College in the Middle Atlantic Conference Southern Final on November 2, 1983. The Greyhounds' last home contest in the postseason was a 3-2 overtime victory over Widener University in the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Championships on November 13, 2002. Moravian has played just five home postseason matches with two in the MAC Tournament and three ECAC contests.
Senior forward Ben Scary leads the Greyhounds with six goals and three assists while freshman forward Joey Roth has netted four goals to go with three assists. Junior midfielder Tyler King has scored four goals while graduate student forward Reed Sturza and freshman defender Ryan Mullin have both scored two goals.
Sophomore midfielder Giuseppe Propato has a goal and four assists while sophomore midfielder Colin Woehlcke has a goal and three assists. Sophomore midfielder Rafi Sanjuan has a goal and two assists while freshman midfielder Sean Kirwin has a goal and an assist. Graduate student defender Donald Gibbs, graduate student defender Vito Leone, senior defender Cole Stevens, freshman forward Enzo Petruzzelli, freshman defender Evan Hubert, sophomore defender Aidan McMillan and freshman midfielder Owen Smith have all contributed one goal.
Senior midfielder Hunter Shay and sophomore defender Max Teneza both have two assists while graduate student forward Zach Nicholas, freshman forward Gavin Murray, freshman forward Colin Moyer and freshman midfielder Nick Marino have all contributed one assist.
Junior goalie Casey Prajzner is 6-2-3 with 48 saves, six shutouts and a 0.53 GAA in 1,025 minutes while graduate student keeper Christian Beebe has recorded 27 saves and a 2-2-2 mark in 552 minutes of action. Junior goalie Casey Foley has seen 42 minutes of action and has a 1-0 record.
Moravian defeated the Blue Jays, 1-0, when the squads met during the regular season on October 23 in Bethlehem.
