Moravian Picked to Win 2020 Landmark Conference Softball Championship

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College softball squad has been picked to finish first in the 2020 Landmark Conference Preseason Poll voted on by the conference coaches.

The Greyhounds garnered five first-place votes and 57 points while The University of Scranton was selected second in the poll with 43 points and one first-place vote. The Catholic University of America came in third in the poll with 32 points while Susquehanna University was fourth with 31 points and the final first-place vote.

Moravian, which was 32-7 a year ago, is aiming for its 26th consecutive postseason appearance this spring. The Greyhounds have been in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 17 of the past 21 years with five regional championships and three World Series appearances.

"Polls are a perception, it will be the challenge to this team to live up to it and make it a reality," stated 27-year Head Coach John Byrne.

Moravian is scheduled to start the 2020 season on Sunday, March 1 with games versus John Carroll (Ohio) University and Illinois College at the PFX Spring Games at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida.
