Brogan & Goetz Earn Division III Softball CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College junior second baseman Shannon Brogan and senior first baseman Lauren Goetz have been selected to the 2020 Academic All-District Softball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for NCAA Division III schools in District IV.

To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania. Moravian has had 53 Greyhounds named Academic All-Americans® selected by CoSIDA.

By making the All-District First Team, Brogan and Goetz are now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for CoSIDA Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced on June 9. There were a total of six student-athletes from the Landmark Conference on Academic All-District Teams.

Brogan, who made the Academic All-District Team for the second consecutive spring, is majoring in psychology and sociology at Moravian, and she has a 3.55 GPA. This spring, Brogan had collected eight hits to go with seven runs and five RBIs when the Greyhounds' season ended after a 9-1 start. She was selected to the Landmark All-Conference First Team as a designated player in 2019 after making the All-Conference Second Team in 2018 as a second baseman. Brogan has a .371 career batting average to go with 101 hits, 70 runs, 17 doubles, four triples, three homers, seven stolen bases and 59 RBIs. She also has 113 putouts and 110 assists in the field to go with a .964 fielding percentage.

Off of the field, Brogan has been named to the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll twice while being on Moravian's Dean's List four times. She is also a member of Moravian's Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society.

Goetz graduated with a degree in nursing from Moravian, and she has a 3.41 GPA. This spring, Goetz was hitting .433 with 13 hits, 10 runs, three doubles, two homers and 10 RBIs in 10 contests before the season ended. She was named to the Landmark All-Conference Second Team as a first baseman in 2019 after making the All-Conference First Team in both 2017 and 2018 as a utility player. Goetz had a .325 career batting average to go with 93 hits, 90 RBIs, which is tied for 15th in program history, 62 runs, 24 doubles, 16 home runs, which is seventh all-time at Moravian, 27 walks, a .577 slugging percentage and a .381 on-base percentage. Goetz also recorded 414 putouts and 59 assists for a .987 fielding percentage while seeing time as an outfielder, first baseman and designated player during her career.

Off of the field, Goetz was selected to the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll twice while being on Moravian's Dean's List three times.
