SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's basketball team saw its 2018-19 season with an 84-54 loss to top seed and No. 12 The University of Scranton in the Landmark Conference Semifinals Thursday evening in the John Long Center in Scranton.

The Greyhounds complete the year at 16-10 as the squad played in the postseason for the 18th straight year and 29th time in 32 seasons under the direction of Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. Spirk has a career mark of 595-285 at Moravian.

Junior guard Maddie Capuano led the Hounds with 16 points to go with a pair of rebounds, and Capuano will head to her senior season with 1,247 career points, which ranks 12th in school history. Capuano's 539 points in 2018-19 is the seventh best season in school history. Senior guard Emily Walls contributed 10 points, four rebounds and a pair of steals in her final collegiate contest while junior forward Nadine Ewald added eight rebounds, six points and four assists and junior guard Karlie Brogan had six points, six boards and three assists. Ewald heads to her senior year ranked 11th in school history with 648 rebounds.

Freshmen guards Alix Buskirk and Kayla Yoegel each scored four points with Yoegel adding three rebounds while senior forward Ariana Caiati had four rebounds and two points in her final career game. Junior guard Brooke Santy, sophomore guard Sarah Donati and freshman guard Hannah Fenstermacher each netted two points.

Moravian shot 21-of-70 from the floor, 6-of-19 beyond the three-point line and 6-for-12 at the foul line in the game.

Capuano opened the scoring with a lay-up before the Royals scored the next five points to take the lead for good. Capuano drained a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 8-7 with just over four minutes left in the first quarter, but Scranton finished the half with an 11-2 run to lead 19-9 after 10 minutes of action.

The Hounds were able to get the deficit to nine points twice in the second quarter before the Royals headed to the locker room with a 36-21 edge. Scranton continued to stretch its lead in the third and fourth quarters.
