Capuano & Ewald Selected to Landmark All-Conference Squads

Maddie Capuano and Nadine Ewald selected to 2019 Landmark All-Conference Teams.

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College juniors Maddie Capuano and Nadine Ewald have been selected to the 2019 Landmark All-Conference Women's Basketball Teams with Capuano making the First Team and Ewald earning a spot on the Second Team.

The duo helped the Greyhounds to a 16-10 overall mark this winter and an 8-6 slate in Landmark Conference action which earned the Blue and Grey the four seed in the 2019 Landmark Conference Tournament, the program's 18th straight and 29th overall postseason appearance under the direction of Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk.

Capuano, a guard, earned a spot on the All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive winter. Capuano led the squad in scoring at 20.7 points per game, and her 539 points in 2018-19 were the seventh most in a single season in school history. Capuano also led the Blue and Grey with 67 assists and 65 three-pointers to go with 30 steals. She heads to her senior season 12th school history with 1,247 points and tied for fourth with 166 career three-pointers.

"Maddie has had another terrific year for us," Spirk said. "She is well deserving of this First Team honor. Maddie can take over a game on both ends of the court. She is as good an offensive player that I have had the pleasure of coaching and she has developed into a solid defender as well. I look forward to watching her continue to lead our team next season."

Ewald, a forward, received her first postseason recognition from the conference. Ewald averaged a double-double at 13.7 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest this year to go along with 65 assists, 31 steals and 20 blocked shots. Ewald moved into 11th in school history with 648 career rebounds, and she'll head to her senior season with 872 points.

"Nadine has developed into one of the best forwards in our conference and is well deserving of this honor," noted Spirk. "She is often doubled teamed on the offensive end, and has become a very passer to go with her offensive skills. Nadine is our defensive presence and we count on her to control the boards as well as keeping opponents out of the paint. I also look forward to watching her lead and continue to develop next year."
