Greyhounds Race Past Yeshiva, 75-36, in Annual Play4Kay Game in Johnston Hall

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women’s basketball team jumped out to a 10-0 lead and would race past visiting Yeshiva (N.Y.) University, 75-36, in non-conference action in Johnston Hall Sunday afternoon as the Greyhounds played their annual Play4Kay game to raise money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

How It Happened

  • Freshman forward Sam Osorio scored on a put back shot on the Greyhounds’ first possession and a three-pointer from sophomore guard Madison Amy had the Blue and Grey up 10-0 just 1:53 into the contest. Junior guard Kayla Yoegel pushed the advantage to 16-1 with a jumper at the 4:20 mark, and Yoegel drained a three-pointer late in the quarter as the Hounds led 22-6 after 10 minutes of action
  • Madison Amy opened the second period with a three-pointer, and Moravian pushed the edge to 22 points at 30-8 on a jumper from Yoegel with 6:03 until the intermission. The Greyhounds headed to the locker room with a 37-16 lead as sophomore guard Morgan Amy beat the buzzer with a lay-up to end the half
  • Moravian would outscore the Maccabees, 21-10, in the third quarter and, 17-10, over the final ten minutes to win their second non-conference game of the shortened season

Firsts for the Hounds

  • Freshman guard Rileigh Serroni scored the first seven points of her career for Moravian while sophomore guard Ashley Robinson netted the first point of her career
  • Senior guard Paige Stitzel, who has been the Greyhounds’ manager for the last four years, saw the first playing action of her career, dressing for the first time
  • Sophomore guard Meghan Ansel scored her first point of the season
  • Junior guard Alix Buskirk reached double digits for the first time in her career with a career-best 10 points

Wearing Pink

  • The Greyhounds donned their pink jersey for the 14th consecutive season and improved to 9-5 all-time when in pink
  • Moravian has won the Kay Yow Cancer Fund’s annual award for Division III for 12 straight year and heading into 2021, the Hounds have raised $173,343

Inside the Numbers

  • The Greyhounds had three players in double figures led by Madison Amy, who scored a game-high 17 points. Buskirk and Yoegel each tossed in 10 points
  • Moravian had a season-high 43 rebounds and had six more boards than Yeshiva in the game. Yoegel had a game-high nine rebounds, finishing one shy of recording her third career double-double
  • Senior forward Raquel Lopez de Boer grabbed a career-high five rebounds
  • The Hounds forced the Maccabees into 34 turnovers in the contest while committing 24 miscues
  • The Blue and Grey connected on a season-best nine three-pointers, and the squad also made a season-high 14 steals
