Moravian Women’s Lacrosse Set to Begin 2023 Season Versus Rival Muhlenberg College on February 22

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's lacrosse squad is ready to begin its 2023 season with a non-conference match versus rival Muhlenberg College on Wednesday, February 22 at 4:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.

Second-year Head Coach Caroline Pape enters her second season with 14 returning players on the field and three newcomers that include a graduate transfer.

The Hounds return one Landmark All-Conference player with sophomore attack Jackie Salvatore making the Second Team last year while also being named the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year. Salvatore led the Blue & Grey in scoring last year with 63 points on 40 goals and 23 assists to go with 25 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers and draw controls.

Coach Pape also has four other returners that netted at least 10 goals last season including senior midfielder Megan Donnelly, who contributed 38 goals, 18 assists, 77 draw controls, 37 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers, sophomore midfielder Madi Dippel, who recorded 24 goals, six assists, 24 draw controls, 14 ground balls and seven caused turnovers, sophomore midfielder Alex Cherenson, who had 21 goals, five assists, 13 ground balls, six draw controls and four caused turnovers, and junior attack Kendall Lomascola, who added 12 goals and two assists. Senior attack Devin King returns after nine goals, 17 assists, nine ground balls and five caused turnovers last spring while senior attack Emily Hoskin recorded six goals, two assists, 49 draw controls, 31 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers.

Defensively, senior goalie Brelyn Freidman recorded a 7-10 record last season with 113 saves and 27 ground balls in 832 minutes of action while senior goalie Rylee Soltis had 31 saves and a 1-0 mark in 247 minutes of action. Junior defender Keara Reilly posted 25 ground balls, 14 caused turnovers and a goal a year ago while junior defender Alise Downey had three ground balls.
