TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University graduate student attack Brittany Bill and senior midfielder Megan Donnelly have earned spots on the 2023 Landmark Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference First Team with Bill being tabbed as Co-Offensive Player of the Year while sophomore attack Jackie Salvatore, sophomore midfielder Alex Cherenson and junior defender Keara Reilly were selected to the All-Conference Second Team and second-year Head Coach Caroline Pape was honored as the Coach of the Year.

The Greyhounds finished the 2023 campaign with a 12-6 record and garnered the program’s fifth trip to the Landmark Conference Tournament where the second seeded Hounds fell to third seed The University of Scranton, 13-10, on Wednesday on John Makuvek Field. Moravian posted a 6-1 record in the Landmark Conference regular season.

Pape has a 20-16 record in two seasons leading the Greyhounds, and she has coached eight All-Conference players, one Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Year and one Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year in two seasons. This spring, Pape was joined by first-year assistant coaches Kiki Brasher and Samantha Cherenson.

“Congratulations to Caroline and her staff, Kiki and Samantha for earning Women's Lacrosse Coaching Staff of the Year,” stated Director of Athletics Mary Beth Spirk. “They led our team to a tremendous season that saw the team earn the second seed in the conference tournament for the first time in program history and just the second home playoff match for the program. They work tirelessly, and we are proud to celebrate their accomplishments.”

“I am beyond proud of this team, our fight, and all we have achieved this year,” Pape commented. “To be named Coach of the Year is an unbelievable honor. All of this would not be possible without this entire group of people. This is a very special team, and a year I will remember for a long time. I especially want to thank Kiki Brasher and Sami Cherenson, who in their first year as coaches brought the passion, energy, and dedication needed to continue to grow this program.”

Bill, who played as an undergraduate at NCAA Division I James Madison University, led the Greyhounds with 93 points on 79 goals and 13 assists to go along with 79 draw controls, 20 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers in her one season with the Greyhounds.

“Brittany has left an indelible mark on our team and is truly deserving of these honors,” noted Pape. “She is a powerful and strong athlete who fights hard for each possession, draw, and shot. She is the ultimate player and teammate.”

Donnelly contributed 46 goals, nine assists, 86 draw controls, 36 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers this spring. She finished her career with 141 points, which is seventh all-time, on 102 goals and 39 assists, and Donnelly was second in program history with 180 draw controls to go with 94 ground balls and 49 caused turnovers in her four seasons.

“Megan is incredibly deserving of this honor,” Pape said. “She has been the engine of this program for her entire career. Meg has been relentless in her hustle, fight for the ball, and strength, often driving the outcome of the game.”

Salvatore, who was also on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team in 2022 while being Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year, led the team with 45 assists this year to go along with 42 goals, 35 ground balls, 29 draw controls and 15 caused turnovers. In just two seasons, Salvatore has 150 points to rank sixth in school history on 82 goals and 68 assists, which is second in program history, and she has 60 ground balls, 36 draw controls and 26 caused turnovers in just 36 career contests.

“Jackie continues to demonstrate the enormous impact she has on the field,” stated Pape. “She has become even more dominant since winning Rookie of the Year, and is the selfless, determined, smart player any coach is lucky to have.”

Cherenson netted 34 goals in 2023 to go with two assists, 37 ground balls, 32 draw controls and 15 caused turnovers. She has 62 points with 55 goals and seven assists to go with 50 ground balls, 38 draw controls and 19 caused turnovers in her two seasons.

“I am thrilled to see Alex getting this recognition,” commented Pape. “She has built her confidence this year, becoming faster, and more dominant. She fights hard for her team each day and has had an impact for us on every part of the field.”

Reilly contributed two goals, 37 ground balls and 32 caused turnovers this season while helping Moravian’s defense allow just 11.67 goals per match. Reilly has three goals, 74 ground balls, 52 caused turnovers and three draw controls in her three seasons with the Hounds.

“I am so excited to see Keeks getting this conference recognition,” exclaimed Pape. “She is the voice of our team and is a true leader on our defense. She shows up each day with incredible energy to provide motivation for our team. She is incredibly focused, strong in her 1v1s and drives our defensive unit with her relentless pursuit of the ball. We are so lucky to have her for another year.”
