Moravian Opens 2019-20 Season with Win over Immaculata at Hoffman Courts

BETHLEHEM, PA. --- The Moravian College women's tennis squad opened its 2019-20 season with an 8-1 non-conference win over visiting Immaculata University at Hoffman Courts Saturday.

The Hounds led 2-1 after doubles action while capturing the first two contests of the year. Senior Eiman Nazif and junior Emma Angle posted an 8-0 sweep at first doubles while junior Brooke Adams and freshman Cristina Merone earned an 8-1 win at third doubles.

The Blue and Grey went on to sweep the singles matches with junior Mary Angle off the courts first with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at third singles. Emma Angle finished next after a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at first singles while Nazif had a 6-1, 6-1 win at second singles to clinch the winning team point. Freshman Julianne Cassady earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at sixth singles in her first collegiate match while Adams had a 6-4, 6-1 win at fifth singles. Senior Lauren Steinert wrapped up the match with a 7-5, 6-0 triumph at fourth singles.

The Greyhounds are slated to return to action on Sunday, September 15 when the squad hosts NCAA Division II Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania in a non-conference contest beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Hoffman Courts.
