Moravian Sweeps Misericordia, 9-0, to Remain Undefeated

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis swept visiting Misericordia University, 9-0, at Hoffman Courts Saturday to improve to 3-0 on the season.

The Greyhounds started the contest with an 8-0 win at first doubles from the tandem of senior Eiman Nazif and junior Emma Angle. The Blue and Grey captured the other two doubles matches by the same 8-4 score with junior Kristen Cassidy and freshman Maddie Figiel winning at second doubles and junior Destiny George and sophomore Hannah Pellicciotti victorious at third doubles.

Moravian also took all six singles matches in straight sets. Senior Lauren Steinert was off the courts first with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at second singles while junior Mary Angle earning the winning team point with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at first singles. Junior Brooke Adams had a 6-1, 6-2 win at third singles while freshman Cristina Merone captured a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at fifth singles. Figiel posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at sixth singles while freshman Julianne Cassady finished the afternoon with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at fourth singles.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Sunday, September 22 when the squad hosts a tri-match with DeSales University and rival Muhlenberg College at Hoffman Courts. The Hounds play the Bulldogs at 9:00 a.m. and the Mules at 12:00 p.m. while DeSales and Muhlenberg will face-off at 3:00 p.m.
