Men's Soccer Opens Conference Play With a Loss to Catholic

The Catholic University of America opened the 2011 Landmark Conference season with a 4-0 victory over visiting Moravian College Saturday afternoon. Junior goalkeeper Mike Brand made 10 saves for the Greyhounds in today's contest.

The Cardinals started scoring when junior Mike Brennan netted his first goal on the season 15 minutes into the match, assisting was sophomore Ian Smith. Catholic pushed the score to 2-0 about 11 minutes later when freshman Hunter Horvath scored with Smith adding his second assist of the game.

Catholic sophomore Ben Frenandez would open up the half scoring one minute and 30 seconds into the second half to extend the lead to 3-0. 15 minutes later Brennan netted his second goal of the game off of an assist from senior Michael DiMarco.

The Greyhounds return to action Monday, September 26 when they host Lancaster Bible College in a non-conference game. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m.
