Men's Soccer Comes Up Short to Goucher

The Moravian College men's soccer team fell to conference foe Goucher College Saturday afternoon, 2-0. Freshman goalkeeper Ryan Deuber tallied eight saves in his first start of the season.

The Gophers got on the board just ten minutes into the contest when freshman midfielder Nate Margolis hit a free kick, and freshman defender Brandon Weiner headed it into the back of the net. Goucher would tack on one more goal seven minutes later when senior midfielder Adam Boyce knocked it in off a corner kick from freshman defender Hudson Bielecki.

Sophomore midfielder Jeffrey Algor and senior midfielder Mark Casagrande would try and get the Greyhounds back in it in the second half with seven shots between them, but the Gophers would walk away with a 2-0 victory.

Senior goalie Steve Baum for Goucher would make five saves in the shutout.

The Gophers held an 18-14 shot advantage, and a 7-6 edge in the corner kicks.

The Greyhounds return to action Tuesday, October 25th when they host Arcadia University in the final home contest of the season. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m.
