Moravian Losses Conference Battle with U.S. Merchant Marine

The Moravian College men's soccer team lost to conference foe The United States Merchant Marine Academy Saturday night, 4-1. Junior forward John Pavia netted the lone goal for the Greyhounds.

Marines got on the board first in the 32nd minute with a goal from junior midfielder Ryan Silveira. Moravian would notch the tying goal two minutes later when Pavia raced down the right side and blasted a shot into the back of the net. Minutes after that Silveira would put in the go ahead goal for the Marines with a lob shot over junior goalkeeper Mike Brand.

The Marines would add two more goals in the second half from junior defender Kurt Olsen and classmate forward Cody Kessler.

Brand would make nine saves in the contest.

Moravian returns to action Tuesday, October 18 when they travel to The University of Scranton for a conference game. The contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Greyhounds return home Saturday, October 22 when they host Conference foe Goucher College. The match is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at the HUB Quad.
