Men's Soccer Falls in Final Home Contest

Junior midfielder Zach Todd scored a pair of goals to lead the Arcadia University men's soccer team to a 4-0 non-conference win over host Moravian College Tuesday on the HUB Quad.

The Knights had the first three shots of the game with saves from Greyhounds junior goalie Mike Brand before Moravian sophomore forward Jeffrey Algor headed a shot on goal. The Greyhounds, who were playing their final home match of the season, would get the next two shots off before Arcadia took a 1-0 lead on a header by sophomore forward Dean Search off of a pass from senior defender Brian Devlin in the 20th minute.

Todd would extend the Knights' lead to 2-0 in the 25th minute when he drilled a direct kick from just outside the left corner of the 18-yard box around the ball and into the upper left corner of the net. Todd then pushed Arcadia's advantage to 3-0 in the 72nd minute when he headed in a long crossing pass from the left side from freshman defender Ryan Stahl. It was Todd's seventh goal of the season.

The Knights finished off the scoring in the 78th minute when freshman forward Tim O'Leary scored from the top of the 18 box into the left side off the net off of a pass from Devlin. The Greyhounds best chance to score late came in the 86th minute when freshman midfielder Shamus Matthews drilled a shot that was saved by Arcadia sophomore keeper Ryan Lantzy.

The Knights had a 22-13 advantage in shots and a 6-5 edge in corner kicks in the contest. Brand made six saves while playing the first half for Moravian while freshman Ryan Deuber had four saves in the second half. Lantzy finished with five saves for Arcadia.

Moravian will close out its 2011 season with a Landmark Conference match at Susquehanna University on Saturday, October 29 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
