Lambert Honored as Landmark Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior Courtnie Lambert has been selected as the Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.

Lambert helped the Greyhounds open the fall portion of their season with a 6-3 victory over Gwynedd Mercy University last Wednesday as she earned a straight sets win at fourth singles and combined with freshman Caitlin Adams for a victory at third doubles.

This past weekend, Lambert and the Hounds competed at the 2014 United States Tennis Association-Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Regional Tournament hosted by The University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Lambert won a pair of matches in the Blue 4 Singles flight before falling in the semifinals. Lambert also combined with Adams in the Blue 3 Doubles bracket as the duo when 1-2 in the tournament, reaching the consolation semifinals.

"Courtnie has been a leader for our women's tennis team both off the court, as captain and on the court, as a tenacious competitor," commented Director of Tennis Art Smith'68. "Courtnie had a great week of tennis with two key wins against Gwynedd Mercy and in reaching the semifinals of the Southeast Regional of ITA'S this past weekend. Courtnie always gives 100% in practice and matches and sets a terrific example for her teammates."

The Greyhounds are slated to get back on the courts on Thursday, September 25 when the squad will welcome NCAA Division II East Stroudsburg University to Hoffman Courts for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference match.
