Hounds Earn Victory Over Simpson (Iowa) College

ORLANDO, Fla. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team improved to 4-1 overall on the year as the Hounds defeated Simpson (Iowa) College, 7-2, at Sanlando Courts in Orlando, Florida Tuesday afternoon.

The Greyhounds had a 2-1 lead after the doubles action. Senior Sophia Osbourne paired up with freshman Skylar Oliwa for the first victory of the day, posting a 8-3 win at second doubles while junior Courtnie Lambert and freshman Caitlin Adams scored an 8-4 victory at third doubles.

The Hounds kept the momentum going into singles action. Sophomore Brittney Eady went into a three-set 1-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8) to win at first singles while Osbourne posted her second win of the day with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at second singles. Lambert took home the win at third singles defeating her opponent 7-5, 6-2 while Oliwa picked up another victory for the Greyhounds, 7-5, 6-0 at fourth singles. Adams forced a third set in their fifth before falling in a super tiebreaker. Sophomore Roberta Scantlebury rounded out the last win for the Blue and Grey with a 6-2, 7-5 triumph at sixth singles.

Moravian will return to action on Wednesday, March 11 in a non-conference match versus Cornell (Iowa) College at Winter Haven Courts in Orlando beginning at 2:00 p.m. as the squad closes out its Spring Break trip.
