Women's Tennis Falls to Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis squad dropped a hard-fought, 7-2 decision to host Elizabethtown College in Landmark Conference action Sunday as the two squads met for the first time as conference opponents since 2006.

The last time that the Greyhounds and the Blue Jays met was in October 2006 for the Commonwealth Conference title, a match that was split over two days due to darkness with Moravian eventually capturing its last Commonwealth championship 5-4. The two schools have not met on the courts since.

Elizabethtown won all three doubles matches to start the match but sophomores Brittney Eady and Roberta Scantlebury didn't make it easy at first doubles as they forced a tiebreaker before falling 9-8 (7-3).

The Blue Jays won the first singles contest to move ahead, 4-0, before senior Sophia Osbourne earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory at second singles. Eady then posted a 6-3, 6-4 win at first singles to cut the deficit to 4-2, however; Elizabethtown won the final three contests.

Moravian to return to action on Wednesday, April 1 in a non-conference match at NCAA Division I Lehigh University beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the Goodman Campus in Bethlehem.
