Women's Tennis Posts 5-4 Victory at Goucher

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team picked up its first Landmark Conference win of the season Saturday afternoon as the Greyhounds earned a 5-4 victory at Goucher College.

The Hounds would have a 2-1 lead after the doubles action was completed. Junior Courtnie Lambert and freshman Caitlin Adams gave the Blue & Grey a 1-0 lead with an 8-3 win at third doubles while sophomores Brittney Eady and Roberta Scantlebury had an 8-4 triumph at first doubles for a 2-0 advantage. The Greyhounds nearly had a 3-0 lead as senior Sophia Osbourne and freshman Skylar Oliwa forced a tiebreaker at second doubles before falling 9-8 (7-4).

The Gophers tied the match at 2-2 by winning the first singles match completed at third singles before the Greyhounds won the next three matches to finish and earn the victory. Osbourne had a 6-0, 6-2 win at second singles while Eady posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory at first singles. Lambert would get the winning team point with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at fourth singles. Goucher would win the final two singles matches in straight sets with Scantlebury forcing a first set tiebreaker in her sixth singles contest.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Thursday, April 9 in a non-conference match at Alvernia University starting at 3:30 p.m. in Reading.
