Women's Tennis Defeats Susquehanna in Landmark Action

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team defeated Susquehanna University, 7-2, Saturday afternoon at Hoffman Courts as the Greyhounds celebrated Senior Day.

"Our women played very well against Susquehanna today," stated Head Coach Art Smith. "Although our team was eliminated for the playoffs we did not hang our heads but have put together back-to-back conference wins."

The Hounds set the pace early with a 3-0 sweep in doubles action as junior Courtnie Lambert and freshman Caitlin Adams finished first, 8-4 at third doubles. Freshman Skylar Oliwa and senior Sophia Osbourne paired up at second double posting a 8-5 victory while sophomore Brittney Eady and Roberta Scantlebury finished up with a 8-5 win as well at first doubles.

The Blue and Grey then captured the first four singles matches to end in straight sets. Osbourne finished first with scores of 6-1, 6-0 at second singles. Eady posted 6-2, 6-4 at first singles, Oliwa added a 6-1, 6-4 win in third singles, and Lambert earned a 6-2, 6-0 in fourth singles.

The Greyhounds are slated to return to action on Thursday, April 23 when the squad hosts non-conference Muhlenberg College in a Matte Award match at Hoffman Courts at 4:00 p.m.
