Women's Tennis Tops Alvernia, 5-4, in Non-Conference Action

READING, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis squad won its second straight match as the Greyhounds posted a 5-4 non-conference victory at Alvernia University Thursday afternoon in a make-up match.

The Greyhounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles action. Senior Sophia Osbourne and freshman Skylar Oliwa were the first off the court with an 8-1 win at second doubles. Sophomores Brittney Eady and Roberta Scantlebury posted an 8-6 victory at first doubles before junior Courtnie Lambert and freshman Caitlin Adams finished off the sweep with an 8-6 triumph at third doubles.

Lambert would push the Hounds lead to 4-0 as she was the first to complete her singles match, posting a 6-0, 6-2 win at fourth singles. The Crusaders won the next two contests to pull within 4-2 before Eady captured the winning fifth point with a 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory at first singles. Alvernia would win the final two matches but not before Oliwa forced a third set in her third singles contest.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 11 when the Greyhounds play their first home match of the 2015 spring season as they host Landmark Conference rival The University of Scranton for a 1:00 p.m. match at Hoffman Courts.
