Greyhounds Picked to Repeat as Landmark Indoor Champions

TOWSON, Md. – The Moravian College men's indoor Track & Field team is looking for its fourth straight Landmark Conference title this season. The league coaches have picked the Greyhounds to repeat with four first place votes and 47 points.

Susquehanna University finished second in the poll with 39 points and the two remaining first place votes while the United States Merchant Marine Academy has been picked third with 30 points.

The Greyhounds return Donald Noble, the 2012 Landmark Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, and sophomore Dillon Farrell, the 2012 Landmark Outdoor Rookie of the Year, in the distance events. Seniors Jonathan Heberling and Travis King along with junior Kristopher Joint have all won Landmark titles in the jumps both indoors and outdoors to anchor Moravian's jumping squad. Second-year Head Coach Jesse Baumann has brought in 16 freshmen that will add depth for the Greyhounds.

Susquehanna lost a handful of seniors, but returns more than a few veterans, including a talented field group that includes reigning 2011-12 Indoor and Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year Ken Schetroma. Head coach Marty Owens has added a promising freshman sprinting class, and while the distance group is young, it includes members of the 2012 Landmark Conference runner-up cross country team.

The USMMA men's track & field team looks to continue climbing in the Landmark Conference in 2012-13. Although some key athletes will miss the indoor season while at sea, the Mariners return a handful of conference scorers and have added a slew of strong newcomers.

Juniata College was picked fourth in the poll with 24 points while The Catholic University of America and Goucher College tied for fifth with 17 points apiece.

The 2012-13 season kicks off Friday, November 30 when Moravian travels to the Lehigh University Opener. Four other teams will open up Saturday, December 1 while USMMA will kick off action January 5. Susquehanna will host the Landmark Championships February 23.
