Men's Squad Leads Jumping Events at Greyhound Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field teams hosted its annual non-scoring Greyhound Invitational at Timothy Breidegam Track & Rocco Calvo Field Saturday.

The Greyhounds had one event winner and three ECAC Division III Championship qualifiers in the meet. Junior Kristopher Joint won the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 14.43 meters (47 feet, 4 ¼ inches), a distance that moves him to fourth on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list that will have the top 20 individuals and top 16 relay teams at the end of the season in each event heading to the NCAA Division III National Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Joint's distance was also the fourth best in school history. He was also the runner-up in the long jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 6.95 meters (22 feet, 9 ¾ inches), a mark that would tie for 20th on the TFRRS list but Joint is already 13th on the list.

Senior Travis King was the runner-up in the triple jump at an ECAC qualifying distance of 14.36 meters (47 feet, 1 ½ inches), a distance would be seventh on the TFRRS list but King is already fifth, just one centimeter behind Joint's mark. Sophomore Chris Ossont was ninth in the triple jump at 13.26 meters (43 feet, six inches).

Senior Jonathan Heberling was fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.88 meters (six feet, two inches), and he also placed seventh in the long jump at 6.42 meters (21 feet, ¾ inches). Junior David Cariello was fifth in the long jump at 6.49 meters (21 feet, three inches) while freshman Albert Myers was eighth at 6.40 meters (21 feet).

Freshman Ryan Karnopp was seventh in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.15 meters (13 feet, 7 ¼ inches).

Moravian's only top ten result on the track was sophomore Alec Duncan placing tenth in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:08.22.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday and Sunday, April 27th and 28th at the 2013 Landmark Conference Championships hosted by Goucher College. Both Moravian squads will be looking to win their sixth straight Landmark Conference Outdoor titles.
